TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Is the Tucson VA on Washington's radar?
For about a month, KGUN9 has been reporting on a staffing crisis that has led to long wait times and allegations of deceptive practices similar to the Phoenix scandal.
The Under-Secretary of VA Health, Dr. Carolyn Clancy, visited Tucson last week and answered our question.
Cavazos:" Is Tucson VA on the radar of Central VA? Do you know about KGUN9's investigation?"
Dr. Clancy: "We have seen your reports for sure and I'm not going to comment on local issues. But I will make one comment, which is, it is incredibly important to get all the facts together and we take all allegations like this seriously."
Documents KGUN9 has obtained show dozens of veterans, whistleblowers, and Congressmen have raised red flags for years to the O-I-G and Veterans Affairs in Washington, but it never made it on the list of 111 facilities the OIG investigated in 2014 for alleged wait time manipulation.
